Allspice, also called "allspice", is in reality a species belonging neither to pepper nor to chili peppers. This spice from the Caribbean and Central America is a concentrate of tastes. It gives off a flavor of pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, hence the other name we know: four spices. Their berries grown before maturity and then dried are very fragrant but devoid of spicy notes, they are suitable for savory and sweet dishes.
